Sphinx Safe is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you and only you — especially your most sensitive data. We collect nothing, store nothing externally, and have no ability to access your safe or its contents under any circumstances.
What Data We Collect
None. Sphinx Safe does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information, usage data, analytics, crash reports, or any other data of any kind. There are no servers. There is no backend. There is no telemetry.
Our promise — Because we don't collect, transmit, or store any user data, Sphinx Safe will never sell your data to an advertising conglomerate trying to write an algorithm to "know" you.
How Your Data Is Stored
All safe contents — photos, videos, files, and text notes — are stored exclusively on your device, encrypted using AES-256-GCM encryption. Your passcode never leaves your device. Your encryption keys are derived locally and never transmitted anywhere.
Sphinx Safe can generate an encrypted local backup file (.vaultbak) that you can save to your device, export to a drive, or share via AirDrop. This file is encrypted with your passcode and is never sent to any server by Sphinx Safe. Once exported, the file is under your control and goes wherever you choose to send it.
If you choose to enable iCloud Backup, your encrypted safe data may be backed up to your personal iCloud account under Apple's standard iCloud terms. Even in this case, all data remains encrypted using keys derived from your Sphinx Safe passcode. Without your Sphinx Safe passcode, the backed-up data is completely unreadable — even by Apple, and even by us.
Photo & Video Library Access
Sphinx Safe requests access to your photo and video library solely to allow you to import media into your safe. Sphinx Safe does not read, scan, upload, or transmit any photos or videos from your library. Media you choose to import is encrypted immediately on your device and never leaves it (unless you explicitly export a backup). You can revoke photo library access at any time in iOS Settings.
Third Parties
Sphinx Safe does not integrate with any third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or data brokers. The only third-party involvement is:
- Apple App Store — required by Apple for app distribution and in-app purchase processing. Apple's privacy policy governs those interactions.
- Apple iCloud — only if you explicitly enable iCloud Backup. This is opt-in and off by default.
In-App Purchases
Sphinx Safe offers a one-time lifetime unlock purchase processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not see, handle, or store your payment information. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple.
Children's Privacy
Sphinx Safe does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because we collect no data whatsoever, Sphinx Safe is inherently compliant with COPPA and similar regulations.
Your Rights
Because we collect no data, there is nothing for us to provide, delete, or transfer. All of your data lives on your device and is entirely under your control. Deleting the app removes all safe data from your device permanently.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy ever changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date below. We will never introduce data collection retroactively without explicit notice.
